Mother arrested for 780g of dagga
A mother of five has been was arrested after being found with 780g of dagga at Lukhula.
Ncediwe Khumalo appeared before Senior Magistrate Donald Mavuso and revealed that she bought the dagga in Pigg’s Peak for E600.
Magistrate Mavuso wanted to know if she already had a market to which she responded to the contrary.
She said she was still looking for a market when she was arrested.
The magistrate warned her against selling dagga, saying it poisons the community.
She said it was the first time she had sold dagga. The magistrate wanted to know why she did not sell something legal like vegetables but she said there was more money in dagga.
She was fined E1 000 or four months in jail.
Another woman was also arrested for dagga weighing 770kg and received the same sentence as Khumalo. She too said she bought the dagga in Pigg’s Peak.
