7 arrested for possession of dagga
AT least seven people were arrested in the past week for being found in possession of dagga in different areas in the country.
The arrests were made in separate incidents. On Saturday evening, Bhunya police arrested and charged a 31-year-old woman of Zondwako for being found to have cultivated 93 dagga plants without a licence.
In another incident, on Friday morning two men aged 34 and 30 years of Nyakatfo and Kwaluseni were arrested and charged for being found in possession of 14.46kg dagga with a street value of E8 676. They were arrested at a house in Two Sticks, Manzini.
Nhlangano police on Friday evening arrested and charged a 34-year-old man of Magele for being found in possession of 5.5kg dagga with a street value of E3 300 without a licence while at Mkhitsini.
Three more were arrested by the same police. They are aged 31, 33 and 44 years and two are South Africans from Bayville while the other is from Ntjanini. They were charged for being found in possession of 47.8kg with a street value of E28 680 while in Nhlangano. The 33-year-old suspect was also charged with breaching the Immigrations Act.
They appeared before the Nhlangano magistrate’s court on Friday, where the 34-year-old man of Magele was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment with an option of E2 000 fine while the three were remanded back into custody.
