Hi Guys

Ant from cape town here, prob an old toppie to most of you, been puffing since 1982 am 50 now, no health issues, been smoking just about everyday for 32 years, work abroad most of the time in lovely places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa... in security management.

Looking for some info re growing my own as am so tired of buying kak on the street, it's always 50/50 most often less! , either decent skyf or it's frot kak, so tired of this shit! its crazy we live in a country that produces some of the best weed on the planet but try scoring on the street ( and i have three different rasta connections i buy from) ...well you know what i mean, i must be spending upward of 300 rands a week and its either stale or crap with the occasional surprise with some fresh swazi (rarely) dont get me wrong ive somked just about all the strains from here to Amsterdam, london , rome etc, over the years but here in cape town just cant seem to find a reliable source near me in somerset west, yesterday i bought twice at 2 diff merchants both kak old stale crap another 100 bux wasted...man this is tiring...and so it goes....for the past 30 years...sad, just dont seem to have the time to grow my own, $$ not a problem just finding a dec sup...oh well will have throw some seeds in the garden as just dont havre the time to grow peace & irie

Yeah Pondos what twak said is right. Get a good soil mix and make sure to water it regularly. At first it will be relatively simple, once you get started growing you cannot stop. These plants have a power over you. It is really incredible.

Thanks for that...ok im going to try growing some i really dont have the time to start a indoor hydro session, surely i can grow it in the garden? just give it some good soil and water it should be ok? and what about seeds? do i just use seeds from some decent swazi i buy locally? if and when i can get some! how long? i hear around 4 months? can i plant now?

Hi lowrider, yes it certainly has been an interesting ride so far, especially the one time i decided to score some local weed from a guy in southern sudan (darfur) on my second day in the middle of no where, never again lol im one of those people who cannot smoke at work! talk about paranoia lol was in a tented camp in a war zone at the time, i remember the weed in sudan came dry and compressed into a small cone shape, man did that skop!

too many stories..where to start...arriving in SA in 1984 aged 23 from the UK (never smoked weed b4 ) and one night a few months later after dropping my girl friend off one night in claremont and then stopping in long street at 23h00 on my my home to milnerton to get a toasted sandwich and meeting a couple of local guys in the take away who were both smokers, had my first spliff a week later after arranging to meet them in long street cpt again.....a few months later things got really bad and stayed that way for 7 years, nothing to do with weed....the guys were button cops! but that's another story and kak memories

Been smoking for a grand total of about 3 months now. I've had the occasional doob throughout the years, but never really enjoyed the experience. Smoked some decent stuff from a new circle of friends a few months ago, and BAM! I enjoyed it. Laughed my ass off and felt energised and a little goofy.

Bought myself 5g of California Orange and 5g of Silver Haze to enjoy over the holidays and have pretty much smoked every day for the last 3 weeks. (Just watched Life of Pi while goofed. WOW! highly recommended)

I'm one of those guys that jumps in with both feet when I find something I enjoy. This is what lead me here. I hope to learn alot from you guys.

Hi Everyone!

New to the site, thought I'd say hi..
A smoker for 14 years so far and going strong, and a grower intermittently throughout, though I've been growing seriously the last year and a half I would say...maybe a bit more. Anyway, tried to sign up here a while back through a lot of people suggesting it on BTL, didn't work for some reason and after more convincing I tried again and am very happy to finally be here!
Looking forward to sharing my grows with everyone, learning a bunch and sharing anything I can. I'm a generally very happy go lucky stoner that smokes far too much yet not enough, and I love to get irie for meditation and living everyday.
My plans with growing which are super important to me, are to learn to grow the best medicinal bud I can to make oil, and give to Cancer and AIDS patients. Obviously I want to support my personal medicating too but my main goal is to help end suffering of people who are being given poisons as medicines.
Not to get too heavy, but yeah the medicinal aspect is something I feel passionately about and would love to learn more and help more people.

Have an uncle with colon cancer, he got some kak oil from some oke and it did not help at all (doubt there was even mj in it) so am personally planning on making him a batch once my outdoor has been harvested.

@Anotherlover Sorry if my post was misleading, I'm only getting into doing it, please don't mistake me for someone who is currently treating people or anything..though that's where it will hopefully go..I currently have an OG Kush in veg and that's for medicine exclusively. I am learning all the time though and do feel after I recently upgraded my set up and have just finished my current grow, I have stepped up a huge amount and feel the bud I have grown is better than I'd say, 90% of chronic bud I've bought in my day...but still gotta cure and smoke for the final test but I am very very happy with the grow so far. Here's a few pics so you can get an idea of my current grow..

Just a bit of an assortment of the last grow, nothing super special, all autoflowering plants I grew out to finish as a personal smoke and practice run for the tent and the afore-mentioned Kush and an Exodus Cheese I got.
Will make an actual grow log on here with them being my first..
